8 Port Configurable Ethernet Switch
Product Code: NET/SWI/003
The Curtiss-Wright Controls Avionics & Electronics (CWC-AE) NET/SWI/003 is a highly rugged Gigabit Ethernet switch that has been specifically designed to meet the needs of aerospace data acquisition requirements.
The NET/SWI/003 is a Gigabit Ethernet switch designed for operating in harsh environments connecting eight Gigabit Ethernet end nodes using CAT5 copper cabling. The NET/SWI/003 has store-and-forward functionality, using an Xbar switching fabric. The Xbar switching fabric is configured using a static forwarding table whereby incoming Ethernet frames on a given port are statically forwarded to the output of one or more egress ports. The static forwarding can be individually specified for each input Ethernet port thereby allowing greater flexibility to forward Ethernet frames to any egress port from any ingress port. Xbar switching fabrics have native multicast and broadcast support as Ethernet frames can be forwarded to one or more egress ports.
The output of each port has filtering capabilities allowing for selective forwarding of Ethernet frames to the connected end node. The filter can reject Ethernet frames from being forwarded to the connected end-node based on Ethernet multicast MAC addresses. The configuration of the static forwarding table and the output port filtering is setup using the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMPv2c). The NET/SWI/003 has an I/O connector that may be configured to receive digital IRIG-B input or generate a digital IRIG-B output.
