The Curtiss-Wright Controls Avionics & Electronics (CWC-AE) Flight Data Acquisition Units (FDAU) are rugged, modular data acquisition units that can be connected out of the box to the MPFR product line and to other FDRs via a variety of interfaces.
The FDAU is a rugged, compact unit with a configurable modular design that has out of the box connectivity to the MPFR product line. Chassis are available in a number of sizes and can be hard-mounted in any orientation on an airframe. A wide range of interface support is available for analog, digital, bus, audio and video interfaces with ongoing design providing a future upgrade path. Highly configured systems can be built and later modified using off-the-shelf modules removing the cost of bespoke designs, lowering the cost of ownership and minimizing inventory requirements.
The FDAU is ideal to fill the role as an active component in aircraft maintenance, expanding the FDAU function to include Flight Operations Quality Assurance (FOQA), Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) and other programs. Many additional parameters can be recorded by selecting the appropriate FDAU with a Quick Access Recorder (QAR) capability – without compromising the certification of the MPFR. Along with the range of interfaces and multiple output protocols, Continuous Built-In Test (CBIT), GPS and onboard processing modules are available.
