Extended temperature airborne 8-port Ethernet switch with IEEE 1588 time support
Description
The NET/SWI/001 is a 100BaseT Ethernet switch designed for operating in harsh environments. Up to eight full-duplex Ethernet end nodes can be connected to the switch using CAT5 copper cabling.
The NET/SWI/001 has a store-and-forward switching architecture; incoming Ethernet frames are stored before they are forwarded out on the egress Ethernet port. Both 802.3 and Ethernet II 802.1Q tagged frames are supported. The maximum-sized and minimum-sized Ethernet frames processed by the NET/SWI/001 are 1522 bytes and 64 bytes respectively.
The NET/SWI/001 transparently supports IEEE 1588v1 Precision Time Protocol (PTP) messages. This provides a greater degree of synchronization accuracy than would be achieved using a non-1588 switch, even under heavy network traffic conditions. For example, better than ±100ns error, when connecting with ACRA CONTROL's KAD/BCU/105 (Ethernet backplane controller) is possible.
